Another pinterest inspiration!
I have always been told that it’s really hard to clean sterling silver jewelry. That it can only be done at a jewelry store. Well no longer!
I found this pinned a while back and pinned it to my FASHION DIY board.
I was looking at my ring yesterday and decided it was time to get it cleaned. I wear a sterling silver and peridot ring on my right hand, which is my son’s birthstone. Here he is modeling it for you:
It’s pretty dirty . So lets get to our ingredients. These are all things I already had in the house, so it was pretty easy:
(we have one of those cool soap dispensers in the kitchen and all bathroom where it comes out automatically when you put your hand or an item under it. My kitchen one has dishwashing liquid)
The instructions say to microwave the water for 1 min, which I did, in a plastic container. Meanwhile, I cut the foil to the size of the bottom of the container. When the water was done, I put the foil on the bottom and measured out all the other ingredients, and mixed them around in the tub.
Here my son is dropping my ring in:
and here is sits. Make sure it’s sitting on top of the foil:
I waited 5 minutes and it wasn’t as clean as I would have liked, so I waited another 5 minutes. After the 10 minutes, I rinsed it under cold water and dried it off. It actually made a big difference! I was very pleasantly surprised!
Here is my ring with my son’s car that he really wanted to show you:
It’s shiny!
And here it is on:
Pretty!
( and incase anyone is interested, that is my new favorite nail polish, Essie’s Topless & Barefoot. Fantastic neutral. I manicure my own nails and this polish has been lasting a good while. The last time I got a manicure, it was chipping the same day!)
So there you have it! Clean your own silver jewelry at a fraction of the cost of buying jewelry cleaner. Enjoy!
